Uvodnik

To bogato izročilo danes prevzema mlajša generacija uredništva.

V času vse večje fragmentacije sveta, v obdobju prevlade logike privatizacije, instantnih rešitev in individualiziranih pogledov, je premislek o skupnem toliko bolj nujen. Arhitektura v svojem bistvu ustvarja pogoje za skupnost: oblikuje prostore srečevanja, spodbuja interakcijo, krepi občutek pripadnosti, utrjuje kolektivno identiteto in omogoča oblike sožitja, ki presegajo zgolj osebne interese. Razprave o kolektivnem bivanju, javnem prostoru in skupnostnih praksah zato niso le strokovne, temveč so temeljna vprašanja naše skupne prihodnosti.

Njegova naloga ostajata spremljanje in osvetljevanje poslanstva prostorske ustvarjalnosti, ki presega materialno raven in sega v tkivo odnosov, skupnosti in kultur. Revija želi ostati angažirana sopotnica stroke v regiji in širše ter hkrati kritična sogovornica družbe – prostor razmisleka, v katerem se arhitektura skozi pisano besedo in dejanje vedno znova sprašuje o svojem poslanstvu in svoji odgovornosti.

Leader

"Architect's Bulletin will therefore first and foremost regularly publish information, domestic and foreign,
being that our Architects' Association is connected with similar societies in the land, as well as with
International Union of Architects. We wish Architect's Bulletin to serve as a firm connection between
Slovene architects and their respective associations, both in Maribor and in Ljubljana; yet Architect's
Bulletin will truly thrive only when every member has deemed their voice to be heard within it."

From the leader of the first architect's bulletin, 1/64

When Architect's Bulletin was first published in 1964, it brought new space for professional expression
and debate. In the decades that followed, and with an ever-increasing clarity of vision, it has emerged as
a committed journal which understood architecture as a practice with a broader purpose blending spatial
decisions, cultural horizons, and social and political circumstance. It has gradually transcended the role
of a chronicler of the profession and spatial production, and has become a vivid hub for discussions,
initiatives, and exhibitions, all of which have bolstered the understanding of architecture as one of the key
co-drivers of change in the community. In its more than six decades of existence, the journal has held out
against numerous critical moments, changes of the guard, and shifts in the professional context; it sought
new avenues, but has always remained vital and present as a steadfast companion to architectural
thought and its mission.

This rich heritage is now being taken on by a younger editorial generation. We accept it as a great
honour and at the same time as the responsibility to sustain the tradition of critical thinking and open it to
questions of the present and the future. The updated graphic design serves only as the visual side of the
journal's new chapter, while its true significance is in the endeavour for it to remain the nexus of
professional, research-driven, and broader public debate.

The overarching theme of this first issue under the new editorial board is The Common in the
Community. In the time of increasing fragmentation of the world, in the era dominated by the logic of
privatisation, instant solutions, and individualised points of view, the consideration on the common
suggests itself all the more urgently. In its essence, architecture generates the conditions for a
community: it shapes meeting spaces, it fosters interaction, it reinforces the feeling of belonging, it
bolsters collective identity and enables the forms of co-existence that transcend mere personal interest.
Discussions on collective habitation, public space, and communal practices thus reach beyond the
profession; rather, these are fundamental questions of our common future.

Architect's Bulletin will continue to be the space of professional thought and critical reflection, as well as
the voice of architecture as a social practice. Its task remains to follow and shed light on the mission that
is spatial creativity, which transcends the material layer and touches upon the fabric of relationships,
communities, and cultures. The journal wishes to remain a committed companion to the professionals
within the region and beyond and at the same time a critical interlocutor of the society - a space of
consideration in which architecture, by means of the written word as well as action, examines time and
time again its purpose and responsibility.

On behalf of the editorial board,
